PAUL COPE

Paul Cope is a dynamic and versatile comedy writer and screenwriter whose work across TV, film, and animation blends sharp wit with playful absurdity - delivering stories that are as clever as they are chaotic.

Paul is the creator of Super Happy Magic Forest, a 52-episode children’s animated series for CBBC, and has developed animated projects with Warner Bros and Paramount. He’s currently rewriting Meat, a darkly comic feature screenplay in development with a renowned U.S. producer, and working on Lord of the Manor, an adult animated series that blends classic British farce with contemporary satire. He’s also juggling two children’s books because, seemingly, he doesn’t want any free time and is crap at golf.

With experience in writers’ rooms and collaborative environments, Paul brings a mix of wit, structure, and sheer comedic chaos to every project. Paul's writing and producing were pivotal in the BAFTA-nominated BBC series The Mash Report (later, Late Night Mash) and a perfect fit to the wry, satirical world of Charlie Brooker’s Cunk & Other Humans. These projects, with their biting humour and incisive social commentary, are testaments to Cope’s ability to use comedy to dissect the absurdity of modern life.

Paul Cope is not just confined to the corridors of traditional media. Beyond his work in television, he’s proven his proficiency as a creator of both long and short form online content, creating work for both BBC3 and Channel 4’s wildly successful Mashed YouTube channel (which itself was a spinoff from an original C4 sketch show he wrote and directed).

He is also the co-creator of the outrageous adult animated web series Future Duck, a show that’s as bizarre as it is beloved. Garnering 33 awards across 27 international film festivals, Future Duck was hailed as the ‘Most Decorated Online Show in the UK’ by The British Web Series Guide.

Cope's talents were also recognized by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, who awarded him the BAFTA New Comedy Writing Showcase. This accolade solidified his position as a face in the world of comedic writing, a status he continues to build upon with each new venture.

Paul continues to grow as an artist and push his boundaries, finding new and exciting ways to explore and create. Whether it’s through a flickering screen, an animated adventure, or one of the many other projects he’s got on the go, one thing is certain: Paul Cope is a powerhouse of talent and a force to be reckoned with.

He’s also incredibly humble.
